The K-9 Unit is an essential tool in the Office’s proactive approach to the suppression of the use and distribution of illegal narcotics in Franklin County. As part of that effort, one of their primary functions is to detect and eradicate illegal narcotics in our schools, neighborhoods and on our streets.

In addition, the Office of the Sheriff has a Bloodhound K-9 Program that utilizes the Bloodhound breed to track missing or runaway persons.

Public Demonstrations – the K-9 teams conduct public demonstrations on a regular basis to civic groups, childcare centers, church groups, schools and in community events.
