NRA Pistol Course

The Office of the Sheriff frequently conducts in-person NRA “Basics of Pistol Shooting” class for community members to meet the training requirements needed to obtain a Virginia Concealed Weapons Handgun Permit. Highly-trained firearms instructors conduct the 8-hour NRA course that covers the following topics:

      •  Pistol Mechanisms & Operation
      • Ammunition Fundamentals
      • Building Pistol Shooting Skills
      • Pistol Maintenance, Selection and Use
      • Live Fire Instruction & Exercises

Classes

Classes are advertised in advance through our website and social media accounts. The cost for the course is $65; cash or check only and is due on the day of the class. You must submit an application to be considered for admittance into the class.
